"Butterflies are Free" - The Butterfly Project
Calusa Nature Center - Fort Meyers, Florida
In the summer of 2011, Eve Lynch of Kraken Mosaics put out a call to artists on Flickr, a social networking site for photographers and visual artists. She asked interested artists to create a mosaic butterflies, a theme that fit the Calusa Nature Center perfectly. The mural sits between the Butterfly Garden and the alligators. Butterfly mosaics for "The Butterfly Project" have flown in from all over the world! I created 4 and my sister created one. It was a really fun project to take part in. I plan to take a trip down (4 hour drive) there someday to see the it in person. It would be nice to visit the area again. My grandparents lived down there my whole life, so we would visit the area often. I haven't been back since my grandpa passed away.

Also if you would like to take part in this cause, you can purchase your
very own butterfly that Eve Lynch will design with you. Half of the purchase price goes to the Calusa Nature Center!!
